I'd like to suggest that we require calls like this to use XML because the level of complexity is great enough that we should be sending the request in as a document. We can specify authentication information which will likely be important. I also think we should opt for a more wordy syntax and maybe adopt named parameters for server-side functions.

XML requests could be sent using POST and/or SOAP. We have a prototype SOAP interface for Hyrax.
